How to set WPFX’s preferred editor

Friday, April 1st, 2005

In XP double-clicking on any image file loads up Windows Picture and Fax Viewer, how usefull. After installing The GIMP I thought it would be usefull to have it load images instead. Unfortunatly unless you are running The GIMP at the time it takes a while to load (damn annoying if it’s just an email [...]

transparent desktops

Friday, April 1st, 2005

I came across transparent desktop backgrounds the other day. Today I found some free time and had a go at making my own: I should have read the How-To first, it explains a fool proof method of making them perfect , i just need to find a tripod…

tcpping and smokeping

Thursday, March 31st, 2005

I have modified the tcpping script to output values much like fping‘s -C mode used in smokeping. At the same time I’ve created a new smokeping probe which uses this new mode. Hence we will have a TCPPing Probe for smokeping, yay! site-note: I wrote a WPing Probe (windows ping) ages ago too. It expects [...]

Drag and Drop blog publishing from Outlook 2003

Monday, March 21st, 2005

OutlookMT (MagicFolder) is a utility that monitors a designated Outlook 2003 folder for items. An item placed in the “magic folder” will be posted to the weblog specified in the settings. (Note: You can’t just add ID anywhere, it must not be before the author line). A quick poke with .htaccess make all my old url’s work, [...]

WordPress cometh

Wednesday, March 9th, 2005

I will eventually be moving from Movable Type to WordPress. The reason is basically their new licencing scheme and that horrible thing called TypeKey. I already have the new server available, I’m just waiting for some spare time so I can install WP and migrate all my MT data to it.

Phantom

Went to see The Phantom of the Opera last night. Very, very cool. Words don’t do it justice.

upside down, inside out

Friday, January 14th, 2005

Seems like here in Cape Town (South Africa), that the world is creating its own little natural disasters for us. Yesterday a fire got badly out of hand. Pictures taken from our office and surrounding areas say quite a lot. Also featured on IOL, and news24. It took us about 15 minutes to strip the [...]
